New Townhouses Coming to the 1300 Block of 6th Street, NW

Two new townhouses are under construction on the 1300 block of 6th Street, NW, and will replace three now-demolished rowhouses that were located at 1341-45 6th Street, NW.

The two new buildings will be identical three-story structures.  Each will have a one-bedroom apartment on the ground floor and a three-bedroom apartment on the top two floors.  In addition, there will be an outdoor patio and parking for both units in the rear.

The former buildings have been demolished, and construction is expected to be complete at the end of June or early July.  A rendering of the new building is after the jump, along with a photograph of the buildings that are being replaced.

The buildings are owned by the United House of Prayer and were designed by Suzane Reatig Architecture.

  1. Probably the ugliest of all her designs.

  2. Here's hoping the real thing looks better than the rendering.

  3. The Rhode Island units looked better in the drawing, so I highly doubt these will be any better. I guess with colors she's going 70s retro.

  5. I really wish she'd retire. At this point, she's clearly just in "fuck you" mode to the general neighborhood.

  6. why is she trying to drain all of the charachter and charm out of this city!

  7. I don't understand the highly negative reactions. The houses seem fine to me. Nothing extraordinary, but also nothing to hate. And given what they're replacing, I welcome them to the neighborhood.

  8. It seems like everything being developed is for either first time buyers (basement 1BRs) or higher-income families (3BRs). Frustrating to see so little "middle" in the market.

  10. Seriously, is there nothing that can be done about the ugly impact this "architect" is having on our neighborhood? Does the ANC have no input or connections with UHOP who appears to be her main benefactor?
